One idea sits under ThePickAU: the games people keep coming back to are the ones they have known since childhood. Chess and chess puzzles head the list and the other classics fall in behind. None of them needs a tutorial, a login or any setting up before you make the first move.
Every game here has been around for a very long time. The rules are already in your head, which means nothing stands between you and the opening move.
Every title here comes off hardware we look after ourselves. Should a game call for an install, a login or a specific device, it stays off the list.
